I'm a passionate Web Developer with experience building intuitive and thoughtful websites. My in-depth knowledge of search engine optimization, front-end languages, multiple content management systems, and social media helps me to be a useful and credible resource for clients, coworkers, and users. I'm dedicated to working collaboratively with my teams to assist organizations in creating marketing strategies that drive brand awareness and business growth.
And counting! Most of my projects have been built in Wordpress and I also have experience working in Drupal 7 and 8, Shopify, Pimcore, as well as static sites like this one.
Do we count modding Final Fantasy VII on a Gateway computer when I was a teenager? I learned coding with a variety of tools including codepen.io, codecademy, and freecodecamp. I moonlighted as a freelancer before taking a job full-time as a web developer.
These three are the majority of my work day and the ones that I've worked longest on mastering. My current development stack includes Sass/SCSS, Javascipt (with and without jQuery), and a variety of as-needed build time libraries all piped through Gulp.
All my themes have integrated Bootstrap 4 so I've gotten deep enough to use advanced techniques and interacted with the variables/mixins at the core. I've started migrating to Bootstrap 5.
Most of my PHP experience has been for Wordpress although it pops up here and there in other projects. I've used Twig in Drupal and Shopify projects and did a Wordpress site using Timber (a library that lets you use Twig for WP theming).
Everything that I build is mobile-friendly. I use more than the standard 3 breakpoints to guarantee accessibility to users on any device.
Managing assets, compiling and minifyng scripts, removing render blocking, font loading, reducing bloat, cropping and optimizing images...all for the purpose of making a website fast (and getting those high lighthouse scores!).
Building simple, compelling movement into a sites is something that I love to do. Hover styles, items sliding into view, button animations are some of my favorites and they are proven to decrease the bounce rate.
PHP goes much farther than writing loops and functions. A current focus of mine is building larger structures using the Classes and Objects that are a part of the the PHP core. I believe that understanding the bigger picture in software engineering will make me better at the small things I do every day.
